By Justin Arnold

One of the first things people often do when looking for indoor car covers is to head down to the high street and pick up one of the first products they come across which seems suitable, but in fact there’s a great deal more choice to be had, and more types of car covers than many people think.

It’s important to make the right choice because often people tend to assume that all indoor covers are more or less the same, offering the same degree of protection, and the same type of protection, but in fact this isn’t the case.

In fact there are more types of car covers than ways to break the highway code, so let’s look at a few points to bear in mind next time you’re looking for the best way to protect your car from the moggy, the kids or the perennial rain of dust which seems to magically appear from nowhere.

The first distinction is between tailor made indoor car covers and semi-tailored covers. What’s the difference? Essentially the difference is the same as going to Saville Row and having a suit made exactly for you, and popping to Asda and picking one off the shelf that’s the best fit.

Clearly both serve a valuable purpose, but besides the inevitable difference in price there is also a clear difference is quality. But whereas a tailor made suit is designed to be a comfortable fit and a good look, tailor made car covers are designed to be an exact fit for the body of your car, whereas semi-tailor made car covers provide a best fit, rather than an exact one.

If your car has no external modifications, and is a very average shape and size then a semi-tailor made solution may well be perfectly suitable and offer enough protection. However, if your car is something a bit special, has any additional modifications (such as spoilers, lowered body panels and such like) then a tailor made cover is clearly going to provide the level of protection that’s really needed.

If looks are what you’re interested in then tailor made indoor covers provide a stunning appearance, but if you’re more interested in the practicalities and the price, then look for a semi-tailored car cover that’s designed for the type of car you own (such as a saloon or a sports car body).

The second thing to consider is the material, because this is an aspect that is again open to a variety of possible options. Cotton based materials are soft, pliable and will allow your car to breathe (yes, it does need to – moisture that builds up needs to escape), but if your car is parked in a barn or a car port then you may find that it doesn’t protect adequately against external dampness.

If your car is likely to be kept in an area which is very damp then a waterproof material such as Supertex or polycotton may be a better choice, especially if it has a fleece underlay for added protection.

So when looking for car covers consider your car’s worth and the level of protection it deserves, the budget you’re prepared to work within, and the location the car will be stored in, including the possible risks it may be exposed to. This will help you to identify whether tailor made or semi-tailored indoor car covers are more suitable, and the type of material you require.

by Tom Sangers

Do you know what a bull bar is? Many SUVs have bull bars on the front of their vehicles in an effort to protect their cars and their passengers in the event of a collision with an animal.

What Do They Look Like?

A bull bar is a device that is fitted on the front of the SUV. It does not come standard on the vehicle, it is added to the vehicle. These bars vary in size and shape, however they are usually made out of welded steel or aluminum tubing.

Why Are They Controversial?

In the UK and the rest of Europe bull bars remain controversial. Although many claim that these devices are helpful at preventing injuries, reports indicate that they actually cause many deaths. On average, over 2,000 people in Europe die as a result of a collision with a bull bar and an additional 18,000 people are seriously injured.

Pedestrians

The major people that seem to be at risk when it comes to these common bars are pedestrians. Because the majority of them are constructed of metal, if they were to be hit by a car with a them attached, their injuries could be fatal. However, some people argue that the new technology of the these bars is safer for pedestrians. Yet, if this is true, than how could they still be effective at preventing collisions with animals?

Do They Make Cars Safe?

While there may be some potential benefits to using a bull bar on your car, the costs seem to outweigh them in this situation. The research seems to show that motorists can injure the lives of others on the road when they drive with thesel bars on their car. It is not safe or fair to the other drivers on the road because the metal does not crash well and can do serious harm to others on the road including pedestrians.

When They Make Sense?

Why then do people use these bars if they are not safe? The truth is they make sense for some cases. If you do a lot of off road driving and you may be at risk for running into animals, then you should place a bull bar on your SUV. However, if you are going to be driving around the streets of England, then you will be risking the lives of others by driving with a bars like this on your car. Therefore, try to think before you act. Remember, you are not the only person on the road and part of being a good driver means taking responsibility for not only yourself but also the others on the road. This is a decision that every good driver makes daily. You can do it as well. Good luck.

By Andy Z Hunt

A Bull Bar is a common modification that you see on four wheel drives. Not only do they make the vehicle look better, they have a number of practical uses which I will go into below. The issue with a lot of vehicles when purchased off the new car yards is that they have limited clearance. This is because there are usually a lot of things that hang down (particularly plastic in newer vehicles). This limits both the entry and exit angles and results in a car which isn’t that great off road. When you fit a bullbar, a lot of the plastic on the front is removed and replaced with steel or aluminum (usually) which sits up much higher.

The result is a front end that is stronger, more protected and with better clearance. This makes a massive difference when driving off road, and it also explains why so many people have them! On the other hand, the main reason for bull bars on a four wheel drive is the protection side. When you have an accident in a four wheel drive without a bull bar, the most vital components get damaged and your vehicle no longer works. This includes the radiator and fans, and without these you aren’t going to be able to drive very far! Some bullbars will take the whole damage and stop any damage being done to your components, but at the very least they limit the damage.

By having minimal damage you are still able to drive to the nearest town to get it fixed up, and this is something that is very valuable when you are miles away from the nearest person. If you haven’t got a bull bar fitted to your vehicle I would highly recommend getting one!

By G. Evans

Your truck or SUV is a highly polished, performance machine. It’s only natural that you should want to ramp up the style and flair of the truck to reflect your personality, as well. Of course, adding a bit more protection is also important, particularly if you intend to take that truck off-road. Bull bars, also known as light bars, can be an excellent option for your needs. What are they? Who needs them? How do you ensure that you get a quality product? Here, you will find the answers to these questions and many more, as well.

What Are Bull Bars?

Bull bars are generally tubular steel constructions that fit on the front of your truck, just below the grille level. They run under the truck, past the front bumper, and provide additional protection for the bumper, as well as providing a skid plate under the truck to help protect the engine from debris and obstacles that you might encounter in your adventures.

These devices are excellent for providing additional protection to the front of your truck, as well as providing additional protection for parts like the oil pan, the bottom of the radiator, radiator cooling hoses, the transmission housing and more.

Who Needs Bull Bars?

Because of the increased protection they provide, these accessories are ideal for anyone who might spend time on unpaved surfaces. Whether you are going rock climbing or heading out to the hunting camp, these accessories provide vital protection to the underside of your truck.

Of course, you need not be a confirmed off-roader to make use of bull bars. You’ll see a wide range of SUVs and trucks that never leave the blacktop that have a set installed. This is because, in addition to adding protection, they also provide tremendous style and flair for your truck.

What Brands Can Benefit?

You will discover that bull bars can fit almost any truck or SUV. There are sets manufactured for Toyotas, for Fords, for Chevys and more. If you own a truck or SUV, then chances are good that you will be able to install a set of these beauties and enjoy the increased style and protection they afford you.

What Makes a Good Set?

Diameter of the Bars – Bull bars come in a wide range of styles and diameters. Generally, the thicker the diameter of the tubes, the larger the truck they are designed to fit. For instance, a full size Dodge Ram would benefit from a set of 3-inch bull bars, while a Toyota Tacoma would benefit from a set of 2-inch bull bars. You will find some brands available in 2.5-inch diameters, as well, to give smaller trucks and SUVs a more rugged appearance.

Finish – The finish of your bars is yet another consideration that should not be taken lightly. You will certainly find chromed steel bars out there. These can be excellent options, particularly if you demand a rugged, classy look. However, if you anticipate taking your vehicle off road, you should consider powder coated bars, as these tend to be a bit more durable in the face of hard use. Powder coating does not chip, peel or flake the way that paint or chromed finishes will.

Installation – How does your set of bars install? This is an important consideration. Most sets simply bolt on, but you will find some that require a bit more. Purchasing a set of bull bars that you can install on your own is a great way to save some cash, but you will need to ensure that you have the tools on hand that the job requires. Most manufacturers will give you the bolt dimensions before you order, so you can ensure that you make the right purchase.

Whether you choose to have Mickey Thompson tires placed on your vehicle or you are contemplating another brand, it is wise to know the difference great tires can make in your drivability. Read below to learn how good tires can keep you safe and how great tires can increase your speed and more. Great tires really do make a difference. Learn how to select yours today with our beginner’s guide to selecting a good tire.

- If you are looking for a tire for your all terrain vehicle, consider the type of ATV you drive and what you use it for. Is the vehicle a utility all terrain vehicle and used for work purposes, or is it a sport all terrain vehicle that you enjoy racing? The answer makes a huge difference in the type of tire you will select. If you live in a cold climate where ice and snow are huge concerns, you will want to choose a tire with a deep tread that can take you through even the most inclement conditions. However, if you are mostly going to traverse land that is flat and hospitable, you can select an ATV tire that has less tread.

- Tires for family vehicles depend on manufacturer recommendations. To help you select a tire for your family vehicle, look at the manufacturer manual that came with the car or truck. Though you will have some choice regarding tread, it is always wise to listen to the manufacturer recommendations.

- Racing tires are engineered specifically for speed; they are often not built to last. Keep in mind that during the Indianapolis 500 and other high-profile races, drivers often opt to visit the pit crew for tire changes. Though the body of the car and the driver’s prowess make a difference in the overall standings, neither will do well on sub-par tires. That is why tires make such a difference, and why they must be chosen properly and inflated to exact specifications. Tires really are the last line of defense between the driver and the road, and they can mean victory or defeat.

Great tires make the difference. Choose Mickey Thompson tires that are built for speed and maneuverability, and you will likely find yourself in the winner’s circle. These are tires designed in the spirit of the great Mickey Thompson, a road legend whose influence still permeates the sport today.

When the time comes that your company depends on heavy duty refuse trucks for critical day to day functions, a truck purchase is a key investment. It is absolute crucial to maximize the efficiency of your truck expenses by carefully weighing this decision in advance. For the web savvy buyer, here are some tips for purchasing new or used heavy duty refuse trucks.

The current financial state shifts largely depending on credit markets and currency values. Knowledgeable entrepreneurs achieve more for the purchaser having a smaller capital investment decision. At the time you follow a cautious budget, you’ll be able to feel comfortable that the industrial garbage truck purchase won’t hinder your company model.

If you are in the market for a new or used garbage truck there are some key essentials things you should considering before purchasing one.

Some of the things to consider when looking for a used garbage truck:

Is there a dealer of the chassis your looking at close to you?

How is the blow-by on the motor, at what temperature was it taken?

Have the oil pressure taken at 160 degrees and up

How is the front cover on the motor, any leaks?

Any leaks around the head?

Does the transmission shift as it should?

Pull the transmission stick, does the fluid look clean, does it smell burnt?

Does the shift points on the transmission shift where they are suppose to?

Any leaks on the input, out put shafts?

Drive shaft in time?

Any leaks around the pumpkins (rears)

How are the rear bushings?

Any strands on the cable broken?

How are the rollers and pins

How is the pivot points?

Is the chassis a double frame?

Roll offs generally call for 18,000 front axle, 44,000lb. rears or better

How are the brakes?

What is the ratio?

Is the truck going to be used on flatland or other, pup trailer?

If the case at hand might be you are making a purchase of garbage truck site unseen do not be afraid to ask for a full spec sheet and current photos of the truck you are interested. Any good reputable company will not have a problem providing that information.

Also make sure to do your homework and research any garbage truck dealership company you might choose to do business with. Listed below are a few tips on how to find information about a potential company.

Check with the Better Business Bureau (BBB)

How many years have they been in business?

Ask to see services records for the refuse truck of interest.

Reviews online from past customers.

Ask for past references regarding truck sales.

At this point you will be in the best position to negotiate when you realize the complete array of garbage trucks that can satisfy your company’s needs. For example, many various types of garbage trucks can manage numerous responsibilities with the support of powerful engines and trailers. There is a considerable variation among a tiny pickup truck and the refuse trucks used for garbage collection. If you are hauling gear for debris pickup, it is crucial to make confident that your commercial truck has the essential towing power to do the job.

Choose a truck that can simply manage today’s responsibilities. On the other hand, tomorrow’s growth must be considered as properly. Anticipate long term needs to get the highest utility out of your purchase.

So you’re out on a Sunday afternoon driving around your nice sports car that you’ve proudly maintained for the past three years. You’ve just washed and waxed the exterior, and every now and then people stop and look your way to admire your nice set of wheels. But wait, now the people start to cringe as you step on your brakes and make a horrible squealing sound……uh oh, looks like you need new brake pads!

Being an amateur mechanic, you’re confident that this is a job you can handle yourself, rather than paying an arm and a leg for someone else to do it. Of course, you will need to buy the parts to do this job, so where do you buy them? Your first option is to visit a local dealership, where you will likely pay a lot more money than you would like to. Your next option is to stop by your local auto parts store, where aftermarket parts cost a little bit less, but will work just as effectively as the parts bought straight from the dealership. Or you could save gas and time with either option and just buy your parts online.

There are lots of different websites out there that sell replacement parts for all types of vehicles, and they can be categorized into 3 types of online auto part retailers. The site you will see most often is the one that sells just about any auto part you can think of, and have a wide variety of brands, plus decent prices that oftentimes will beat your local brick and mortar store. The second type of online shop sells specialized auto parts, usually catering for one auto manufacturer, for instance Toyota or Chrysler. The third type only sells their own brand of parts. The advantage of this type of retailer is that they don’t need to mark up their prices in order to cover the distribution costs associated with obtaining and selling another company’s products. This third option is your best bet if you can find one that caters to the specific parts you need, since you will find that they are much cheaper than either your local auto parts store or the other types of online retailers. Happy shopping, and good luck!

Pickup trucks are having ample of demands in the trucking business and the truck buyers are quite fond of these trucks due to the luxuries and facilities offered by these trucks. They are having many utilities that are used mainly by the industries and other professional teams. Also these trucks are available in the used forms. The used Pickup trucks are available in different styles and prices but these trucks also require some precious procedures to follow while having the deal of buying. Here are some of them revealed.

* Check the model and the requirements

Before buying the truck it is always recommended that the truck buyer should check the model of the trucks, the performance, storage and even the capacity of the trucks and should compare all these features with the requirements of the business. To match the requirement and to get the best model is quite important as once a wrong truck is bought the entire amount is in vain. So, better way is to see the requirements of work, make a note of that and to compare those notes with the features of the model available for sale.

* See the market price

To check the market price and to have the analysis according to the manufacturing year and the mileage used is quite important. The used Pickup trucks are not having any price tags and these prices are decided by the seller. So it becomes quite important to see the market price of the model. The prices are decided by the manufacturer name, making year, performance of the truck, repairing cost if any and also the mileage used by the truck model.

Inspect the Documents and title

When you are satisfied with the model, Quality and performance of the trucks, the very next thing you should do is to have the documents and title to check. There are some compulsions enforced by the laws that make the truck buying legal and appropriate and one of them is to have the documents checked and the title to get conformed. The legal formalities needs to get finished for the transfer of title but for that the title should get cleared and also the truck should have none of the legal or other hidden liability. There are many chances where the trucks are

The inspection by the mechanic

The inspection of the proposed used Pickup truck and the interior quality of the same is vitally important. The checking of the engine and other internal parts that are not visible with outer inspection should be confirmed by the reliable mechanic to make sure that the truck is having no major repairing expenses visible in short term after buying. This inspection is quite impressive and therefore the mechanic should be shown the entire body of the proposed truck.

Bargain the price

There is always the scope of bargain in the used trucks and even in the case of Pickup trucks the same rule can apply. The bargaining of the prices is quite required and specified with the dealer offering the truck. Sometimes the owner or the dealer of these used models are in quick hurry of hard money, in such cases, the price variation is quite expected. The bargaining of the prices in case of used trucks is one of the most happening things of trucks.

These are some of the most popular trucking tips that should be considered while having the used Pickup trucks. The buying of trucks could be most beneficial and smarter if these tips are followed religiously.

Before deciding to rent the equipment, given the cost and the length of the rent, we should have some specifications and considerations. We don’t just jump and rent the equipment by impulse. Like any other rental, renting a backhoe is very critical. Before you jump to renting the backhoe itself, we have to make sure that we really need a backhoe. You should be able to identify the differences between a backhoe, a loader, and an excavator.

Backhoes have a lot of power compared with other compact equipment, and its costs less than most of them. Take note that the typical backhoe loader is consists of two important tools: a loader in front to pick up piles of the pieces of materials, or push heavy objects into place, and a rear backhoe, which is capable of digging right down within the earth. What are the basic considerations before renting a backhoe?

First is the extent of the job to be done. You have to decide first if how deep will be the desirable dig. Take note that the power of the backhoe will be dependent on its size. Make sure that you know the estimate of the dig depth. If you want a dig to be approximately 14-16 feet, you needed a full size backhoe. Second consideration is to make sure that the loader has enough power to lift the materials at a given height. To make the equipment versatile, try to choose the attachments that is right for your needs to increase the machine’s flexibility.

It is important to make sure you know the available attachments that suit your needs. For instance, using buckets instead of fork lets you do some pallet transport. At the same time, you make sure that the backhoe has a quick coupler. It should contain an integrated carrier for tools to utilize two or more attachments. For legs, make sure to have rubber-padded shoes for asphalt use or stabilizer legs that have a firm grip on dirt. Another consideration is the wheel. Make sure to choose a four-wheel backhoe for better grip on lose ground or mud. It is the best feet for off-road heavy workloads. Aside from the typical four-wheel drive, it should have four-wheel steering for better maneuver on crowded work sites.

We also have to take into account the type of machines used to operate the backhoe. Older models of backhoes have manual and separate levers for foot and hand controls. On the other hand, newer backhoes have automatic transmission that is conducive for driving in large and wide working sites, at the same time, modern backhoes have joysticks that are multi functional and are easy to use to provide full control to the backhoes.

Taking into account the considerations before renting a backhoe will ensure the equipment’s efficiency and versatility in doing a job, at the same time, we feel secure that our financial resources was not put into waste. We have to consider the above mention backhoe specifications to make sure that we are renting the equipment that best suit our needs and specification with a limited budget and time.
