What is a Bull Bar Used For?

A Bull Bar is a common modification that you see on four wheel drives. Not only do they make the vehicle look better, they have a number of practical uses which I will go into below. The issue with a lot of vehicles when purchased off the new car yards is that they have limited clearance. This is because there are usually a lot of things that hang down (particularly plastic in newer vehicles). This limits both the entry and exit angles and results in a car which isn’t that great off road. When you fit a bullbar, a lot of the plastic on the front is removed and replaced with steel or aluminum (usually) which sits up much higher.
The result is a front end that is stronger, more protected and with better clearance. This makes a massive difference when driving off road, and it also explains why so many people have them! On the other hand, the main reason for bull bars on a four wheel drive is the protection side. When you have an accident in a four wheel drive without a bull bar, the most vital components get damaged and your vehicle no longer works. This includes the radiator and fans, and without these you aren’t going to be able to drive very far! Some bullbars will take the whole damage and stop any damage being done to your components, but at the very least they limit the damage.
By having minimal damage you are still able to drive to the nearest town to get it fixed up, and this is something that is very valuable when you are miles away from the nearest person. If you haven’t got a bull bar fitted to your vehicle I would highly recommend getting one!
